Uh no. This is a good thing for manufacturers. This means you have to buy another case. The last thing they want is for you to use the old one.
Uh yes, THis means case manufacturers also have to re-tool and build new cases that are otherwise the same save for a millimeter. I doubt they are real excited about doing this.

Apple patched the first wireless driver exploit (http://www.macrumors.com/pages/2006/11/20061128162852.shtml) along with other unrelated vulnerabilities this week, however all remaining MOKB vulnerabilities remain un-patched.

MOKB organizer "LMH" spoke to MacRumors about the project. According to LMH, most of the project's time was spent on Linux and the Mac OS, both of which were described as "not hard" to break.
The Linux kernel takes little time to break. I'm more familiar with the code and thus it also takes less time to isolate issues. OS X kernel (XNU) takes less time but depending on the area you're checking, debugging and isolation may require a bit more time (if you take into account that AppleTalk source code is almost unreadable and totally deprecated) [...] I didn't have much time left for working on Microsoft Windows but I've received the most helpful feedback from the MSRC people on potentially interesting stuff to check. Not a huge reference of internal code nor NDA covered documents, but at least enough to start with.
In LMH's point of view, the state of Mac OS X security is not great.
From the technical perspective, OS X security is rather poor, at least when it comes to kernel-land code. This isn't a sign of negligence of Apple, but obviously when you take code from many different places and stick it together, it's prone to problems. Not just new ones but also old issues that 'went under the radar'. [...] (ed note: now comparing MS to Apple) I can say that Microsoft has a more thorough auditing process and investment when it comes to kernel code than Apple. Sadly, Vegas will cost you more for a week than SF (if you want to do it "right").
And doing San Francisco "right" is close if not more. At least in Vegas you have massive competition for your entertainment dollar. San Francisco entertainment venues is this strange, cabal like maze of approval processes with some social engineering objective hidden from the public.
Hotels, restaurants and other "substance" costs are a hell of a lot cheaper in Vegas than in San Francisco. I did Vegas for less than a grand in a week last summer just to see how far I could stretch my dollar. I ended up with free rooms, free food, complementary shows and spent my money on what matters -- booze, guns and women!

They said the same thing about pro desktop sales when we were waiting on a carbon version from Adobe. Then, it was released and Pro sales didn't increase. Too bad you can't put Xeon in a MBP :P
I think this is different. Our company is not buying any Intel-based macs until Adobe releases Universal CS, and I don't know why anyone would spend $$ on new hardwre now only to take a performance hit, vs. a performance increase and better hardware bang for the buck by waiting 6-9 months.

Sad thing is the developer is now going to be charged $300 (Apple requires the developer to reimburse the user Apple's commission).
I think that in case of accidental/erroneous purchases, this is not true.

Today's shot is a place I bet many of you didn't know existed. It is a "tourist/post card" picture, but I wanted to use it anyway just to see how many recognize it.
Well, considering you have posted a few shots from Hop-town, I am about 99.999% sure where it is, but I'll play along and see if anyone else has a guess. I may just have a slightly unfair advantage, even though I have never been to this site specifically ;)
The Cherokee Memorial Park in Hopkinsville, KY, is where Chief Whitepath and Fly Smith, a clan leader, are buried. This site was one of the ration stops along the Trail of Tears.

This is a really powerful shot. Great composition. I think the only thing that could make it better would perhaps be a little fill flash on the statues. I've really been enjoying your work. It is tough to judge completely without seeing week & month views, but I don't like this at all. I hope we see a little less time making iCal look better (which IMO has been wasted effort--yuck!) and a little more time making things like the task list much more productive, let alone fully sync-able with all iOS devices. I'm not a big fan of Outlook as a mail or calendar app, but I love the way it handles tasks. (At least as of the last version of Outlook I used, which is probably 2 revisions ago.)

No freakin thanks. Its already hard enough to control the touch sensitive orange ipod because its so "touchy." It would literally be impossible to use the ipod without looking with an interface like that, driving with an ipod would go from dangerous to suicidal. Its not the least bit practical and would just be a gimmick.
Its just an all around NO for me. One hand control would be a pain, no-look control would be impossible, the learning curve would take awhile to get used to because it would be the first thing with controls like that, no cases, pretty much no everything. Bad idea.

The entire Android platform only generates 1 billion dollars per year in revenue for Google.
On the flip side, the iOS platform generates 1.4 billion dollars per quarter through the iTunes store for Apple.
Google hasn't found a way to significantly capitalize on Androids market share and that is a major loss. Hell, Google could take over the other 30% of the market held by RIM/ect. and the yearly Android revenue would still be below Apples quarterly revenue for the iOS platform.
Obviously Google has the same opinion as other Android fans... marketshare is king.
Although... in the business world... cash is king.

Zune sucks, doesn't do well (good for Apple)

I don't know what else Apple can add to its existing iPod line besides small improvements... a few of their recent "revolutions" (buttonless Shuffle, touch-screen nano) have actually been steps backward, imo.Absolutely, man I hated the Dentyne Shuffle. Of course, this happens from time to time � iPod 3 was a loser with the 4 touch buttons at the top. The nice thing about Apple, when they make true mistakes, it shows in the next revision when they come back to what works.
I think the current iPod line is just about perfect. I just wish the Shiny Back would go away for the Classic and the Touch. Looks pretty for the first day... then even one scratch blows that.

I'm not sure if it's just a bunch of "computer guys" around here, but in the gaming world Xbox 360 has a fair amount of cultural cachet.
IIRC, PS2 is still outselling the Xbox360. And when we compare install-base, Sony's lead over MS is HUGE. And since PS2 is still outselling their competitor, that lead is increasing.
