As much as I enjoy Apple products and services, it's nice seeing someone beat them to the punch. This can only be a good thing for all of us.
I see cloud services as an exciting technology. I'm rockin a Macbook Air and the only files I keep on the 64 GB SSD are documents. All music, pictures, video and movies are on a 500 GB external HD. Obviously it requires little or no effort to plug said external HD into the Air but it would be nice to shed it. It would also be nice not having to sync music over to the iPhone.
I say bring it on!

It is completely legitimate to jailbreak your phone. But a good idea for scion to put in mice type that jailbreaking your phone may have unpredictable results and is not endorsed or recommended by apple or Toyota in any way. Just like the mice type for everything else on a car ad.

Ok people, how's this? I ordered a 17" MBP on Sep 8. I upgraded the ram and hard drive. It was supposed to ship yesterday, the 15th.
I checked my order status today and the ship date has changed to October 2! I also received an e-mail from Apple stating that there were unexpected delays.
I held out hoping for a C2D but broke down and bought on the 8th. I was all excited that it was going to ship yesterday. I don't even care so much about a C2D, I just want my Mac. But here's hoping anyway.Congratulations! While I agree the 2.33GHz upgrades are too expensive on the iMac, I expect the 2.33GHz will be the standard part in both the 15" and 17" top MBP models - no doubt on the 17". Who knows, Apple's cost per 2.33 may even drop every 30 days or so in their contract with Intel.
I dunno... the 2.33GHz Yonah's been available for some time but Apple's never offered it.
Of course, it could be deliberate so that they can offer it with the introduction of Merom, thus making the speedbump greater than that attributable to Merom's enhancements...
I'd always assumed it was because Intel wanted such a large premium on the part for something that's a shade over 9% faster in clock-speed and maybe 5-6% faster in real world terms...
What is even more ridiculous is if we look at the OEM cpu-price-per-1,000 units (which isn't what Apple pays, they'll get the much better tier-1 full-platform price), where the difference between the 2.0 and the ~16% faster 2.33 chip is more than the 2.0 chip itself costs!
(T7200, 2.0GHz $294 vs T7600, 2.33GHz $637, with T7400, 2.13GHz, 4MB L2 $423 for those interested).

Resolution independence will not stop images from getting bigger. Unless you are dealing with vector art, scaling an image up will decrease quality. Resolution independence will be a function of taking the biggest image that might be used and scaling it down.
Even with vector art, you lose some image quality with scaling. You can't create new detail.

I guess I can wait till then. But do you think they will annouce at WWDC, and then say Shipping soon or something, like they did in january?It's anybody's guess. They are due a refresh. And with Merom already shipping it's a 50-50 chance Steve will do that. I'm saying September 12 Paris is the latest. WWDC August 7 is certainly possible. I have no clue if he will or not. Anyone else here have a clue? If so, they're probably pulling it out of their butt. :D :eek: :p ;)

I did not know that TSMC produces LCD panels, RAM, SSD drives or flash memory. If Samsung stops supplying those to Apple, Apple is dead.
Same goes to Samsung. I don't think either company would die without each other, but they would both struggle without the business

Well, since WWDC has been bumped from the usual June day, we all know something is coming. I kinda am hoping for a 13" MBP. They could introduce the 13" MBP along with bumped up 15" and 17" ones.
I would love that. I really want a MBP to replace my PB12, but the current MBPs are too bulky. What I really want is a 13" MBP of the same general form factor as the MacBooks, but with a dedicated pro graphics card and everything else the MBPs have...

Iphone? I just can't see it... It will kill their ipod sales - it will be like shooting themselves in the foot. The reason is that all phones are now free with a contract - we have difficulty in having any value in our phones nowadays.. if you had a free iphone with a contract which had ipod facilities then why would you buy an ipod? It just doesnt make sense.. unless they ONLY sell it sim free. If they do bring one out then i'll certainly buy one, but I am not sure that it is such a good idea... I'd rather they produced a phone/pda hybrid like the xda - I think that this would fit better into their existing product portfolio..
or most people (like me) want to carry around one device that will do everything, I could listen to music but when I need to I'd grab it and make a call. in the future everything is going to come in one product, apple is seeing the future now and jumping in it feet first

Android - 40%

RIM - 5%
Apple - 35%
HP - 20%

If I were starting a business and seeking investors, it would sure be a lot harder to get investors when the capital gains rate is 35% rather than 15%. That business would never materialize. It's not like me to pass on any Apple product upgrade but if the next iPhone is the exact same form factor and screen size with a camera upgrade, an A5 chip and 1 GB of ram, I'm passing.
I use that money for a second iMac.
Unless there's something in it not expected, I'll probably pass too.
But not because I don't think the rumored upgrades would be great... just because my current iPhone4 works great and I'm assuming iOS5 will bring lots of new toys to iPhone4 and 5 customers. So why spend the money?
However, I have yet to spend more than the original money I spent for the iPhone 1. Every upgrade for me has been free as I've been able to sell my previous phone for the $200 needed to upgrade. So, no skin off my bones.

Looks like something else being blown out of proportion. It makes me laugh seeing people make threats of switching to another competitor, I wouldn't have responded or just replied "Ok". Most of these people have no idea of how this location thing works, they just hear the news and then their mind starts working overtime and they panic and want an explanation or something free haha.
