They are in mid-30s and if they apply for residency they will finish at age 35yrs and then post-residency is another couple of years. Does mid 30s age in their favour?

nothing to worry about, it happened to me too,
I opened an SR and two weeks later my wife got FP and I didn't, I thought I'll wait for a week or two but in vain. When I gave a follow-up call I came to know that FP was scheduled at my Attorney's place (I live in west coast and I was scheduled to attend FP at ASC in East coast) and the twist is my attorney never received it.on top of it when I asked the Rep about possibility of scheduling an FP at my place she advised me to file AR-11 form, at this point it was very clear to me that Rep doesn't have a clue on what she is talking about. the very next day I was luck to get hold of nice rep who said I quote
" I don't understand why these people schedule FP at attorney�s location"
he apologized and said he will open an SR to reschedule at my location and he assured me that this time it will be at my location, which I got in couple of weeks.
Hope you will get your FP notice soon.

I guess you should be good with your AP . But also there was a thread about one of the IV'ians AP experience at SFO. Please read that so can understand what AP is for and when it can be used as per the IO at SFO airport

I was told by my attorneys para leagal (so who knows if this is true or not....) that the ITIN number is the same number that will be issued in the form of ssn.

all the best with your wife's SSN application. My wife got her EAD 2 months ago and next day only we applied for SSN. Still waiting to get one. We called them after 4 weeks of application and they say they are waiting from USCIS to respond with the legal status (confirming EAD) to issue this number. So after 2 months still status is same.
I asked them if there is anything we could do, answer is none.
Can i speak with your supervisor to get more info, answer is same.
According to the EAD, she can work. She has TIN number, but I am not sure if she can use that...

Mr Aggarwal, you might remember you gave me suggestion of going out of US for few days and then my employer can apply 2 I-129 applications simultanously.
Here was my case : I am on H-1B status since May 2005 and my 6 years expired on 12th May 2011. My employer applied for LC on 15th May 2010 which is still pending ( under audit ). In order for us to seek 7th year extension, I went out of US for 4 days and came back bcz I have to be in status on the day my labor was going to be 365 days pending. My employer filed two I-129 applications, ( both applications under normal processing) one for seeing 4 days to recoup, and 2nd application for 7th year extension But USCIS sent 2nd application back alongwith fee and gave us only 1 file number. Why is that?
Is it because they can accept only 1 application at a time( for 4 days extension) and wont entertain 2nd application unless 1st has been decided?
Or .. Are they going to do processing for whole 1 year and 4 months in same application and returned the extra fee of 2nd application?
I am confused now, because what if they are processing only 1st application and give me just 4 day extension after 2 months. Also, shall my employer be able to file 2nd application after 2 months when I am out of status ?
Please help .

Dear fellow IV'ians,
I just wanted to share my good news with all of you on the cusp of a New Year. I am ecstatic to announce that my 140 got approved after a nerve wracking 17 months.
I have been rewarded with this blessing at the end of an absolutely horrendous year, to say the least. It started with being on bench for 5 months, to a 2-month contract in another city on H1-B through 3 layers, working hard as a mule whilst at the same time thinking positive, praying and believing in myself. Then extending contract by 3 months, abandoning H1B to use EAD due to ridiculous treatment by my H1 employer of 8 yrs. (it was the proverbial last straw on the back). Finally after this effort, contract extended through 12/31/09 culminating just yesterday by the approval of my 140!! "Hoped for the Best but prepared for the Worst"!
It came at a moment when I was almost ready to give in, throw up my hands in despair and start the tedious process all over again. But I always believed there was a silver lining in the clouds for me and it has just now opened up.
I want to thank everybody for reading and providing a fellow immigrant support and answers throughout this arduous journey. As a token of my appreciation for IV, I will contribute $140 towards our campaigns for next year.

I opened SR in Jan...took infopass last week...NOTHING..stupid people are saying that my namecheck is going on..i applied 140 and 485 in July...i140 not yet approved...no FP also...blackhole...

True, it covers only Citizenship (naturalization) applicants. However, it's worthwhile to explore if this lawsuit can be extended to cover GC applicants or ACLU is willing to file another for GC applicants too . It may provide a chance to those on IV still stuck in Namechecks.
Class-actions may be slow, but they provide benefits to all future GC applicants (if successful) unlike WOM cases which benefit only the applicant.

Glad you liked my thoughts. Just felt this might be a novel and practical campaign rather than doing flowers again or something else.
I think IV can even have such cubes available as IV merchandice and people can donate via a 'Send a F cube to USCIS' button probably !

Senator Obama has filed the "Citizenship Promotion Act 2007" which
tries to alleviate this process and mandate the FBI to perform this in
a reasonable timeframe without limiting US Security.
following is an exceprt of this.
"...Act to limit the timeframe of the FBI name check and background
check. We ask of the honorable members of the Congress and Senate to
approve Senator Obama's Act in its entirety and facilitate the
feasibility of it. As the security of this country is considered a
priority, it is important that the adequate budget and resources are
devoted to the security checks ..."
This sounds like a good initiative to help out all of us that finally end up making in I-485. Suggest we rally all IV members to sign this petition:

I am working on H1B. Recently what has happened that my family lives in state A, and I am working in state B. My family could not move to state B because my sone is going to school. I have to pay alot of expenses to go back and fort from state B to A, like air ticket and cab ect. I talking to my compnay regarding this and they said that whatever are my expenses submit to every month end and he will send a check for those expenses which will be pre taxed amount. i.e. if my pre taxed salary is $ 5000 per-month , if I submit expense statemet for $500. Then my employer will send a check of 500 and paystub i.e. direct deposit after applying tax on $4500.
I am not sure whatever he is suggesting is good tyhing to do and it will not have any problem for me.

Thqnks for the reply...whats interesting is today I called 2 different camera places by me and pretended I was interested in the same kit I have and BOTH told me that the 70s camera body supports the sigma lens' I have - In fact they were putting together a package that included the very seme lens'

Of course Nikon can't help support third party lenses. They have a specification (that isn't available to others) that specify how the interface between the camera and the lens should work - but the can't change that specification (or change what the camera does) in order to support other manufacturers lenses. If they really wanted other manufacturers to make lenses to work on Nikon, they would perhaps publish (or license) the specification. But I don't think Nikon is particularly interested in doing so.
Sigma, however, has made it their business to reverse engineer the interface between the camera and the lens, without the access to the specification. They therefore are responsible (even if they plead not so) for any malfunction between the two. However, one of the problems with reverse engineering is that you can only see what's being used at any particular time - the spec may well have some variations that aren't used in a particular setup, but allows for future expansion. This is where Sigma will have a problem when Nikon brings out a new/different camera model.
The firmware for the lens should be possible to upgrade, assuming it's a case of just not understanding some command or such.
