I when to France once before. I remember the cheapest gas had an octane rating of 95 or so, the next level up was 98 octane. I'm assuming that regular in the UK is around 95 octane as well? That tops what get. Our gas starts at 87 octane and tops out at 93 octane for so called premium (about $0.40 per gallon more than regular where I'm at).
Anyhow, judging by how our gas is priced, it's about 2x what we pay here in the States. You win some (having better cars), you lose some (higher priced gas).
Octane ratings are calculated differently in Europe than they are here in the USA. MON versus RON and AKI....
In the USA the number we see is the AKI (Anti Knock Index) and our 93 - 94 is equivalent with Europe 98. Here is a good read on it...
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Octane_rating
That being said, I did live in Germany for 4 years and remember paying 9 to 10 dollars a gallon for gas. Most of that was tax, but I didn't mind paynig it because the roads are awesome.

I think peecees are a great value if, you aren't using pci cards and you build your own but I just got the new dual 867 and it rocks! If your doing video you should check out final cut pro on OSX.2 Very solid and very fast!
I adimit I don't have the very newest pc with the newest apps but the reason the Mac is now an even better deal is the very real speed of the new Machines, the new OS, and the Included apps are very good. Final cut does not exist for the Pc, its nearest competitor, from avid is about $700 more and not as good,so if you factor in everything, the New Macs are the best values in a long time. It will be interesting to see what happens on both sides next year:D

I'm weird. They are going to cut a 6-inch hole in my back and remove one of my lamina and a disc, and I'm worried about anesthesia.
Derrrr...
Ew - goodness iGary, and they're not keeping you overnight?
Having had a couple general anesthesia surgeries, I've found the experiences from my childhood and early adulthood remarkably similar.
1) Wheeled into the prep room, and doctor inserts IV with some sort of relaxation medicine - everything gets really happy, warm and drowsy all at the same time. I start babbling like an idiot.
2) Wheeled into the operating room (still conscious), doctor places mask over my face and says, "breathe deeply." I take a couple deep breaths while remaining conscious enough to see other doctors breaking out the tools and scalpals.
3) I panic, thinking "ohmygod I'm still conscious, I'm going to see and feel everything. It's going to be just like the 60-Minutes episode they aired in the 80s about patients remaining awake during surgery. I'm going to go insane with the pain and agony!"
4) On about the third deep breath I fall unconscious.
5) Wake up moments later in the prep room feeling sick to my stomach and sore. Throw up. Doctors pump some anti-nausea meds into my IV and everything is OK.
6) Realize that it's three hours later than "a moment ago" and that I'm really sore.
Seriously though, the first operation when they knock you out is scary, but the anticipation is much worse than the actual experience. Hope all goes well for you...

That's actually pretty cool. And it's a good example of killing a bird with two stones. Not only does it take away the heat but it also uses the energy gained to reduce the heat remaining.
Wish my mbp cd had that in it :(

No PowerPC version? Ouch. Lets hope that's not a growing trend for all you golden oldies out there :p
Yeah, I knew this was inevitable. (I'm running a 1.25 GHz G4 iMac.) That being said, for the applications I use (and this won't be one of them), I honestly don't see myself being forced to buy an Intel machine for a loooong time. Just because Adobe has decided to rpoceed in this manner doesn't mean other companies will follow suit. And you can bet that Apple definitely won't, at least not for a few more years. Heck, Classic was supported until what, last year essentially? And the G3 machines up until Leopard? ;)

You guys do know this is just a white version of the ip4, right? It all works the same as the black one. ;)

There's a big difference between "many single machines can fail and the cloud survives" and "individual machines are stable". Most businesses can't afford the mass cloud redundancy of Google, and most can't afford to have machines go down regularly.
The point of "big iron" is that you buy one large expensive machine that just sits there doing its work quietly for years on end, with little active administration needed.
I guess each situation is different. I'm more interested personally in the SOHO scenarios, where dedicated servers and an exclusive IT staff are slowly losing relevance (http://37signals.com/svn/posts/2785-the-end-of-the-it-department).
(Although the news of Gmail losing emails gives me pause (http://www.macworld.com/article/158186/2011/02/gmail.html).)

I still don't get how everyone is saying that a glance of eye-contact is "expressing interest", it happens all the time in a lot of different places, one can hardly help it. merchandise or something....this is getting difficult, all just to shop
Based on results Bro' -- whatever it was that she thinks you communicated to her during that 2 seconds caused her to make herself scarce from your vicinity (and you stuck around a while to see if it wasn't just she went back to bring some stock out, right? Face it - you WERE interested.)

How about a breathing tax, somebody's gotta pay for all that CO2, right?
Let's tax blinking, too... That's a waste of energy.
Get real. Lots of countries have high taxes on car ownership or on fuel - noone has a "breathing tax".

Right now I have a 5870 running a 24" ACD and a Dell u2311h. I also have a TV that I want to to be hooked up, but right now I don't have an active adapter for it, but I do have an active one for the MDP to single link DVI. If I ever want to hook up the TV right now, the u2311h won't work. So I was thinking of getting another Dell u2311h and hooking that up to the 5870 with the active adapter. Then I was thinking of getting a cheap gt 120 just for the TV. I am not sure how will this would work and I would also like to get some of y'alls opinions.

TV is trash anyway. Who has time left to waste watching commercials & shodily slapped together shows?
Have time to kill? Do something constructive on Inkpad or iDraw.
Want some light entertainment on while you do something productive? Netflix
Want something cheap and raunchy? Youpr0n
There is nothing TV does that one of these other things doesn't do better.
Well, keep feeding me the trash. I really do NOT have anything better to do after working 7am-7pm

Am I the only one that thinks all of this "No new iPhone until September" stuff is just a result of Apple's attempts to keep iP5 under wraps? After last year, I bet the security around iPhone 5 is intense...
I bet it comes out this June as it's supposed to. A5, double RAM, Double capacity, *fingers crossed* 4" screen, and a couple more features that no one thought of, but can't live without ;)
