I think there is a hole in this argument/dream. Apple has spent considerable time and marketing money in the Made for iPod campaign that centers arounds the dock connector. They have created the Universal dock and inserts for all recent iPods, promising to keep these updated with all new iPods in the foreseeable future. Therefore, I seriously doubt these new no touch iPods wouldn't have at least a dock connector. .
The new Nike-Apple collaboration shows how Apple could get around this - simply a female dock receptacle, bluetooth (or whatever) configured to replace the physical dock connection. It would work for automobile interfaces, the iPhoto connection etc.
Apple could make a ton of cash "this simple connector - only available from Apple - allows all your iPod accessories to communicate with our new iMonolith iPod"... very 2001:)

considering that amazon sells mp3 format and apple sells their non-universal format, it still doesn't matter to me. Until apple gets real and starts selling MP3s I will continue to buy from amazon. But I guess they don't care.

I find most of the comments puerile or insane--over reacting with disdain or glee--while the major concern should be the function. I still find iCal a little limited and annoyingly so in terms of notes attached to daily functions.
Who gives a crap how it is decorated! Make the thing work better and it will work better, and that's what matters to real people who need real organization within their lives.
Can't help it I'm a snotty designer and one of the things I love about Macs are their liberal use of 'flair'. This is counter-intuitive to that style I'm used to.

I've been using Parallels for running VISTA and Win XP but today I found the link for the Vmware Beta Download that has only from what I understand been handed out to some for testing.
Here is the link that I downloaded the beta from:

I�m running it and works well. I know it�s in Beta but already after installing and running our Full copy of Vista and Win XP on Fusion, I�m going to stick with Vmware.
Now, right now it�s free, and not sure if it will cost money down the road for Vmware, but this one is free but only perk to Vmware is that the �Vmware� logo pop up as a water mark on the screen every now and then. Hasesnt really bothered me.
Anyways, good luck if you try it out.
Can�t wait for the full release free or not, will probably get it.

Much as I like how the MBP looks, and know that it's a good performer, the lack of a good (gaming) graphics card won't tempt me towards saving money for one of these. x1600's all right, but not really enough, especially for the next couple of years.

That's the funny thing, though. You're not locked into DRM with the iPod. You don't need an iTMS to use your iPod, just iTunes. It plays standard MP3 files and non-DRM'ed AAC files.
If you want to buy music online, you ARE locked into to DRM. Which is what people hate about the iPod/iTMS model.

That's typical Apple. Intel chipset does not support USB 3.0? No USB 3.0 for Apple fans! NVIDIA GPUs do not work with SandyBridge? Stick with outdated C2D CPUs for years. What's more important - CPU/chip or case? In case of Apple, the case always wins. Apple is all about image. Once designed, the case should stay unchanged for many years. Apple will wait until somebody designs a "suitable" chip. Is not it kind of backward? Then we hear excuses from Apple fans why Apple could not use separate USB 3.0 controller. This would require redesign of the motherboard - Wow! Think of it - redesigning a motherboard! Some companies redesign tens of motherboards every year but Apple? No way. Now iPhone users will be stuck with outdated technology for a year or two and they will be feeding us all kinds of excuses why LTE can not be used in iPhone. Just ridiculous.

I guess I just don't see the benefit of an Apple TV. Unless they come up with an easy to perform hardware upgrade path.
People generally buy TVs for longer terms. I know I would be upset if my TV can't make it 10 years.

No, there were many specific allegation (for example the patent claims), and many others (trade dress) aimed at a broader range of devices. And for the claims that don't require pleading with great specificity, they did give examples.

I agree. I like MS strategy. They want to get their foot in the door and compete, then sell you all kinds of other ish. Look at the XBOX/XBOX 360, they may sell them at a loss, but with the Software, XBOX Live, and the Marketplace, they are making their money.

Just like Microsoft grabbed the market in the early days of personnal computing and has the biggest share today, maybe Microsoft will have to be happy with a 10-15% MP3 player marketshare in 5-10 years.

Steve Jobs knew about this in January... this says a lot about his vision. I'm confident that he is already well-prepared for this and has something up his sleeve to counter it.
There will NOT be a sudden exodus to Argo from iPod. If it ever happens, it will be gradual and easy to fix.
